About the band

The Dr.Peller Jazzband is the first Jazz Band of the Pilis Basin.


The members of the band are:

Zsuzsanna HEGEDÜS – vocals

Her occupation is Yoga teacher, life style therapist; she is the founder of a unique musical meditation.

She took up jazz singing as the disciple of Linda Kovács, and right after her first lesson, she made her debut in “If Jazz Café” in Budapest joining Ádám Bögöthy bass player and Bendegúz Varga drummer.

She has been frequently on stage ever since and is a founder of Dr.Peller Jazzband.

She shared the stage with renowned musicians, such as Mihály Borbély, Károly Gáspár, Balázs Horváth, Áron Tálas and Árpád Dennert.


György Jeszenszky – drums

György started playing on the drums when he was 12, in a self-taught way. He graduated from Bartók Béla Music high school’s jazz department in 1997. Played in the bands of István Baló, Gábor Radó, István Regős, Károly Binder and István Gyárfás during the 90’s. Nowadays he takes part in many formations, such as Juhász Gábor Trio, Premecz-Gyárfás Organ Trio, Vörös Niki Quartet, Equinox, Kelemen Angelika Quartet, Varga Gábor Trio and Jazz Consort. He is also a teacher at Ferenc Liszt Music Academy and Teleki-Wattay Art School.


Dr Ákos Dorogi – piano

Ákos graduated with a diploma in 1997 from Ferenc Liszt Music Academy’s jazz piano major in Budapest, his tutor was János Gonda. During these years he played in many bands, like jazz trios, quartets as well as in bigger formations. He was a piano accompanist in the famous Cotton Club Singers between 1994-96. Beside his own bands, he works with several others: ie. Mardy Gras Jazz Band who were the permanent feature of the road-show of Sopron Beerfestival in 2023. He also appears in smaller club formations around Budapest:  Kelemen Angelika Band, Horváth Alíz Kvartett, Jazzbond zenekar, Cotton-klub Jazz Band. Used to be the pianist of Fenyő Miklós’ band from 2003 to 2005. Since 2005 he is the permanent piansit of the Bergendy Saloon band, and he also plays a major part of the life of Bolero Showtime Band as the colorful percussionist whose improvisations are widely appreciated. Ákos worked with many famous performer during his career, such as Koós János, Payer András, Soma, Berki Tamás, Fenyő Miklós, Zsédenyi Adrienn, Hajós András, Somló Tamás, Geszti Péter, Váczi Eszter, Bergendy István. His title as a doctor comes from the University of Law of Pécs, where he graduated in 2022. Since then he also takes on responsibilities as the lawyer of the Musician’s Union within the Union of the Performing Artists in Hungary.


Zoltán KOZÁK – bass, bass guitar

He was born in 1970 in Békéscsaba.

He graduated from Kodály Zoltán Conservatory in Debrecen. (His teacher was Csaba Prinyi), he was the member of multiple jazz and jazz-rock formations.

1989-1994 Music Academy. (He learned under the guidance of: Péter Kubina).

He earned his degree “Contrabass Artist and Teacher”. He joined Hungarian State Orchestra in the same year.

He has been the leader of the bass section of Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra since 2000. He had been working as a guest artist in Japan (Kanazawa Ensemble) and in Cyprus (National Orchestra).

He toured with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra in several countries. (USA, South America, Japan, China, Korea, and Europe), he is a standing member of multiple chamber music foundations.

He joined Dr.Peller Jazzband in 2017.

His instruments and accessories: Double basses with 4 and 5 strings, Yamaha TRBX 505 bass guitar, Elixir strings, prolude BHV400L amplifier, Porkolab subwoofer with EBS piezzo.


Zoltán MOLNÁR – trumpet

He was born in He was born in 1965 in Nyíregyháza.

He studied from 1979 until 1984 at Hungarian Musician Regimental Sergeant Major Training Vocational School. He won 1st Place at Concertino Prague international chamber music competition in 1981. He won 1st place in Classical music category in the talent show “Ki Mit Tud” organized by the Hungarian State Television in 1983.

He enrolled to the Music Academy, his teacher was Zoltán Szűcs. He is the founder of the Brass Quintet of Music Academy. He won 1st place at the International Brass Competition in Barcs, he joined Hungarian State Orchestra in 1987. He won 2nd place at the International Brass Competition held in Narbonne in 1990.

He joined György Vukán’s CAE, furthermore the jazz-rock band “Tea”, he won the eMeRTon Prize [awarded by the Hungarian Radio] in 1994 with the latter.

He won the “Musician of the Year” Prize in 1998 in the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. He launched the Trumpet Camp in Balmazújváros in 2000.

He founded Opera VIVA festival in Switzerland in 2005.

He was appointed as trumpet teacher of the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen in 2006.

He won the “Musician of the Year” Prize in 2016 in the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra.


Dr. György PELLER – tenor and soprano saxophone, kaval, composer

He was born in 1973 in Budapest.

He started his music studies in the Music School of Pilisvörösvár and studied clarinet, later he was tutored by József Papp in tenor saxophone at Postás Music School. He learned also under the guidance of Levente Puskás, Mihály Borbély and Mihály Bazsinka.

He was the leader of his own rock band for 20 years, during this time the band issued 4 albums, featuring dominantly own compositions. Multiple compositions made by him are featured in the playlists of Radio Jazzy.

He founded Peller Jazz Quartet in the spring of 2017; the formation was extended by additional two members.
